Dr. Amanda Modes aspired to become a veterinarian since she was a young girl.  Dr. Modes has been a practicing veterinarian since she graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2012 from the University of Illinois.  She then completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery with Red Bank Veterinary Hospital.  While Dr. Modes has over 10 years’ experience as a veterinarian practicing small animal general medicine/surgery, emergency and urgent care, and relief veterinary services throughout the state of NJ, she has been exclusively practicing veterinary behavioral medicine since 2022.  She is a current resident with the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists under the supervision and mentorship of Dr. E’lise Christensen and Dr. Natalie Estep.

Dr. Modes also has experience working with wildlife, exotic, and zoo species, large animals, and in a research setting.  She has been a puppy raiser for Guiding Eyes for the Blind and spoken locally to various age children about veterinary medicine at career events at local schools as well as a program at our local animal shelter (St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center).  In addition to speaking some Spanish, Dr. Modes also has a basic knowledge of American Sign Language.

Dr. Modes spends her spare time trying to keep up with her busy family, which includes 2 troublesome mutts, her husband, and two very active boys.  She can always be found reading a book in some format.  She has a serious wanderlust problem and is always adding to her growing list of desired travel destinations; and someday hopes to check off the last 2 continents!
